About

Commodity Insider

A focused platform for raw minerals and metals: the price picture, and the physical market around it — nothing else.

Prices & charts first

21 raw minerals and metals across five categories, with interactive charts, heatmaps, forward curves, comparisons and alerts — the market picture at a glance.

The physical layer

Prices only matter if you can act on them. Off-market interest, an open marketplace, and directories of trading companies and brokers connect price to tonnage.

Freight built in

Every physical trade has a freight leg. Benchmark dry-bulk route rates, a ship-owner directory and a cargo calculator keep the cost side visible.

Context that moves markets

A focused news portal with sentiment tags and per-commodity headlines ties the story to the chart.

FAQ

Is the data real?

No — every price, rate, company and headline in this MVP is simulated or illustrative, generated deterministically so the app behaves like a live product. Wiring a real data feed replaces one module (lib/data.ts); the UI is already built against typed interfaces.

What do watchlists, alerts and posted listings persist to?

Your browser's localStorage only. There are no accounts and no server-side storage in the MVP — nothing you enter leaves your machine.

What would production hardening look like?

A real price feed with licensing, authenticated accounts, server-side persistence for listings and deal-room access, KYC on counterparties, and payment integration for membership. The current codebase is structured so each of these slots in without a rewrite.

Is anything here investment advice?

No. Everything on Commodity Insider is indicative and for demonstration only.

Disclaimer. Commodity Insider is a demonstration MVP. Prices, rates, companies, listings and news are simulated or illustrative, are not sourced from any exchange or publication, and must not be used for trading decisions. Nothing here is investment advice.
